What smell do you associate with summer? For me, it’s the scent of sun-kissed grass and earth. Dusty, thick and tingling hot with every breath. Whenever I smell it, I always think of the shimmering pavement and the horizon rippling in the distance, almost ethereal, like a place between worlds.
Summer always makes me reflective. I know for some people it’s the winter months because of their cosiness that invites to look inwards, or spring because of a sense of wonder and renewal, but for me, it’s always the brightness and vigour of summer that makes me feel really awake, inviting to explore everything both outside and inside myself.
It’s an adventurous time for sure, and I felt like this month’s poetry has been influenced by that deeply. From themes relating to the ‘self’, to how I’ve chosen to challenge myself and improve on the way I think about crafting my own poetry; I think June has been a very fruitful month of writing for me.
And I want to use this opportunity to thank everyone who’s been reading, commenting, messaging and enjoying my work. It’s a pleasure hearing what especially resonated with you and learning from our conversations.

Winding, snaking streets that usually echo dozens of footsteps and voices, now quiet in the twilight. I reach the intersection as the light changes to red yet I drift on without any cars in sight. Severed, I’m wandering along familiar streets in the chilling stillness. We were here, I think, as I pass the same place …
There's No Fridge Anymore
Sleepless nights are when the bravado disappears, when the voice cracks and gives way to shaky tears. It is a lonely time; quiet; still. You’re bare before the silence of the surrounding night.
From the Notes:
This month has been extremely fun because I got to get inspired by @
to write my poem ‘The Magician’. It was a really fun experience and I will surely love to work with other artists in the future. Her kindness in letting me work with her beautiful art made me gain a bit of confidence for the future. Also, last month I really liked the idea of sharing other poets’ works that moved me and lingered long after. I hope that you, too, can be enchanted by them:

— Slow and meditative, and yet there was a sense of heaviness and tragedy that stayed with me, almost a sense of unmaking in the ebbs and flows of the water.By
— A beautiful, mythical piece filled with passion and grotesque imagery and so much symbolism. I really enjoyed it.This upcoming month you can look forward to a little poetry project of fantastical poems I’ve been working on, and as always, thank you so much for taking the time to read my poetry and I hope to see you around and hear your thoughts 💛
